Chief Executive Officer

Marty Welch was appointed CEO of HEMIC in August of 2012, bringing over 30 years of Workers’ Compensation and Commercial Property & Casualty insurance experience to his position. Marty previously served as President and Chief Operating Officer for Employers Holdings, Inc., a publicly traded, multi-state, Workers’ Compensation specialty carrier based in Reno, NV.

Prior to Employers Holdings, Marty spent 25 years with the former Wausau Insurance Companies, a national multi-line insurer, serving in various underwriting, marketing, management, and executive roles. Marty currently serves on the Board of Governors of the American Property Casualty Insurers Association, the Board of the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaiʻi and is the Chairman of the Local Leadership Board for the Arthritis Foundation of Hawaiʻi.

Marty earned his undergraduate degree in Finance from the University of Illinois and he is a Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter. Marty and his wife Jennifer reside in Honolulu and they have three grown sons.

Jason Yoshimi

President, Chief Financial Officer

Jason Yoshimi has over 20 years of successful experience in the insurance and accounting profession, and has spent the last 17 years as a licensed Certified Public Accountant. He is responsible for the direction, oversight and management of HEMIC’s Finance and Accounting, Investments, Compliance and Information Services staff.

A graduate of Chaminade University of Honolulu, he received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Accounting, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Upon graduating, Jason worked at several Hawaiʻi CPA firms with concentrated work in financial auditing and compliance, and systems and internal controls consulting. Jason is a board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaiʻi.

Tammy Teixeira

Senior Vice President, Business Development

Tammy Teixeira joined the HEMIC organization in March of 2013, bringing 27 years of Workers’ Compensation P&C insurance experience with her. Tammy is responsible for Corporate Marketing & Communications, Agency Relations, Customer Service and Claims. She is also responsible for achieving top line revenue goals through the development of new markets, customers and products, as well as through the sale of additional products to existing customers.

She serves as President of HEMIC's wholly owned subsidiaries, HEMIC Insurance Managers, Inc. (HIMI) and Employers’ Protective Insurance Company (EPIC). Prior to HEMIC, Tammy was Business Development Manager for SeaBright Insurance Company, a publicly traded workers’ compensation specialty carrier.

Tammy has served as Board Chair for the Hawai’i Insurers Council, is a Founding Officer for Kids’ Chance of Hawai’i and serves on the Board of Directors for the HEMIC Foundation. Born and raised in Hawai’i, she studied at Hawai’i Pacific University and has dedicated her career to the Hawai’i insurance market

Paul Naso

General Counsel

Paul Naso oversees all legal matters for the HEMIC Family of Companies, including but not limited to Litigation Management, Corporate and Regulatory Compliance, In-house Employment-related issues, and a wide variety of transactional issues involving Contract Drafting and Negotiation. Paul also advises HEMIC’s Executive Management Team on all company-related matters. In addition to his General Counsel role, Paul leads HEMIC’s Government Affairs effort.

Paul brings to HEMIC over 20 years of legal experience in the insurance area in both litigation and transactional capacities. He also acquired extensive business experience prior to his legal career, serving in key management positions with several start-up companies in the textile industry.

Paul is a board member of the Hawaiʻi Employers Council. He acts as the Treasurer of the Hawaiʻi State Bar Association is the President of the Corporate Counsel Section of the Hawaiʻi State Bar Association. Paul earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of San Francisco, School of Law.

Regina Harris

Vice President, Underwriting, Premium Audit, Safety & Risk Management

Regina Harris joined the HEMIC organization in January 2014 and leads Underwriting, Premium Audit, Safety & Risk Management, and Information Systems. Regina has over 26 years of experience in the workers’ compensation insurance industry, most recently providing process improvement consulting services to industry clients.

Prior to HEMIC, Regina served with EMPLOYERS in various executive management positions, most recently as Vice President, Underwriting and Product Management, and previously as Vice President, Project Management Office and other underwriting leadership positions. Before her tenure at EMPLOYERS, Regina was Assistant Vice President with AmGRIP, Inc. for five years, providing underwriting and process improvement consulting services to clients.

Regina holds a certification as a Project Management Professional.

Faye Bueno

Faye Bueno
Vice President, Administration

Faye Bueno has been a member of HEMIC’s staff since its inception in 1996. Hired as Administration Manager, she currently serves as the organization’s Vice President of Administration and serves as the Executive Secretary to HEMIC’s Board of Directors.

Faye’s prior work experience includes Human Resources at both Hawaiian Grocery Stores and Host Marriott. She received her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Hawaiʻi, and attained her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) designation in 2005.

Faye is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management at both the national and local levels.
