HEMIC Insurance Managers Inc. (HIMI) to Act as a Servicing Facility for the Hawaii Hurricane Relief Fund (HHRF)

News Release

The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) has announced that the Hawaii Hurricane Relief Fund (HHRF) has been reactivated to address the current, pressing need for hurricane insurance coverage for apartment and condominium owner associations (AOAOs). Their website details the eligibility requirements for hurricane insurance through the HHRF and lists HEMIC Insurance Managers Inc. (HIMI) as one of two servicing facilities.

"Since our inception, HEMIC has been committed to addressing Hawaii's insurance needs," stated Martin Welch, CEO of HEMIC. "Today, we are prepared to support the Hawaii Hurricane Relief Fund through our subsidiary, HEMIC Insurance Managers, Inc."

Tammy Teixeira, President of HIMI and SVP of Business Development & Customer Experience at HEMIC, emphasized the company's commitment, stating, "As a wholly owned subsidiary of HEMIC, HIMI is dedicated to addressing the unique market needs of our islands through risk management and insurance solutions. We take this mission very seriously. During this challenging time, as Hawaii's businesses face property coverage issues and with hurricane season upon us, HIMI will support the HHRF in every way possible to help stabilize the marketplace."

Those seeking hurricane coverage should work with their insurance agents. Hawaii-licensed insurance agents can contact HIMI at himiquotes@hemic.com to request applications and initiate the submission process for HHRF coverage.
