To commemorate our 20 years of dedication to the Hawai‘i business community, we celebrated with a charity golf tournament on July 31, 2017 at Waikele Country Club. All net proceeds from the event will benefit the Arthritis Foundation. The event brought together our industry partners and colleagues for a day of fun, sun, golf and fundraising. More than $40,000 from sponsorships, teams, raffles, mulligans and a silent auction will help the Arthritis Foundation achieve their mission.
HEMIC’s CEO Marty Welch presented a donation check for $40,000 to the Arthritis Foundation’s Senior Executive Director, Maile Kawamura, on Monday, August 28, 2017 on air at KITV’s “Good Morning Hawai‘i” program. HEMIC’s donation will support local efforts, which include community awareness, patient education, and Camp Mana‘olana, where local children with arthritis can experience friendships, fun, community and support.
Arthritis is the #1 cause of disability in the United States. The Arthritis Foundation is the Champion of Yes — focused on finding a cure and championing the fight against arthritis through vital information, advocacy, science and community. We at HEMIC support the efforts of the Arthritis Foundation and their mission to find a cure, while also providing much-needed support and resources to arthritis sufferers across the state, especially our keiki. Arthritis affects 218,000 Hawai‘i residents each year, impacting Hawai‘i businesses with lost labor hours, absenteeism, reduced productivity and profitability, and higher costs. Their mission is aligned with our goal of getting Hawai‘i workers back to work and back to life.
We wish to thank our generous event sponsors who donated their time, money, efforts and energy to making this inaugural event a big success! We could not have accomplished our fundraising goal — and we couldn’t have made the day such a memorable and fun one! — without their support and aloha.
Mahalo nui to all who joined us to mark this important milestone in our history and give back to our Hawaii community.
